The Library and Information Centre of DUTH, through the collaborative consortium ILSaS+, offers a unified Discovery Search Service.
Search options:
| 1. Via VuFind | ![]() |
This service is implemented using the open-source system VuFind and allows users to perform a unified (simultaneous, but not real-time federated) search across the Library’s resources and a multitude of electronic and digital online sources.
Sources are categorized into two main tabs:
- A) “DUTH Sources” Tab, which includes:
- DUTH Electronic Journals System
- Institutional Repository
- Library Catalog
- B) “External Sources (Subscription or Open Access)” Tab, includes electronic books, electronic journals, and databases from:
- The Democritus University of Thrace Library (active subscriptions)
- HEAL-Link
- Open Access sources
User Access & Login
- Personalized Services: Log in using the email address (academic or personal) you provided during your Library registration. This feature is exclusive to registered members.
- Remote Access: To access external subscription sources from off-campus, you must use a VPN or Institutional Single Sign-On (SSO).
| 2. EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) |
EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) is a unified search service that allows for simultaneous (but not real-time federated) searching. It includes electronic books, electronic journals, and databases from the following sources:
- EBSCO Discovery Service (active subscriptions)
- HEAL-Link resources
- Open Access sources
Please Note:
- Search Algorithms: Each unified search engine utilizes its own algorithms; therefore, identical search terms may produce different results regarding both the total number of findings and their ranking order.
- Index Updates: Each source updates the discovery service index at different times and frequencies.
- Full-Text Access: Access to the full text of an article or book depends on:
- The connection method (remote access via Institutional SSO, VPN, or specific access codes).
- The active subscription agreements of either the DUTH Library or the HEAL-Link consortium with the respective publishing houses.
